Starting with Alexandra Rankin, who is a paralegal at JLG, who joined us in October 2023.

What’s your educational background?

LPC and LLM – Manchester Metropolitan University

Where did you work previously?

My previous jobs include:

Customer Service Representative – NatWest Group

Sales Advisor – New Look

Retail Operative – Primark

What does your job at JLG entail?

I assist with PCP Financial Mis-selling Claims. I deal with claims where clients have been charged secret commissions on their finance agreements and over-charged interest on their loans.

What’s your favourite part of the job?  

Learning about the different claims we deal with – understanding the litigation process and journey the claim goes through. It has been interesting to apply what I have learnt over the years whilst studying into practice.

What do you think the future holds for mass litigation in the UK?

I think the future for mass litigation in the UK looks promising as more consumers are becoming aware of it and realising that they have collectively suffered harm in the same/similar way by the larger companies. Rather than claims being brought individually, they are brought collectively against the defendant, giving more people access to justice and being able to strengthen their position. In recent research, it has also been known that the UK is becoming the ‘destination of choice’ for mass actions.

What are your favourite pastimes?

Going out for food, walks, drives and cooking
